About
Marta Michalska-Uras is a distinguished vocalist and dedicated vocal music educator who adopts a holistic approach to her teaching, addressing the body, mind, and spirit of her students. With an evidence-based methodology, she consistently achieves exceptional results across all levels of voice training and age groups.
A true global citizen, Marta is of Polish heritage, married to a Turkish husband, and together they are raising three American sons. Fluent in multiple languages, Marta is adept at working with a diverse repertoire, enriching the musical experiences of both herself and her students.
Experience
Marta's musical journey began at the age of six, participating in recitals, concerts, competitions, and festivals at the local, national, and international levels. Her passion for teaching led her to earn a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the prestigious Charles University in Prague. During her studies, she received comprehensive training in teaching methodologies, classical solo singing, and choral performance. Simultaneously, she performed in renowned Prague jazz clubs and was a soloist in a gospel choir that regularly performed on prominent stages.
In her early career, Marta participated in the inaugural season of The Voice in Poland and subsequently recorded an album. Upon relocating to Prague, she was invited to compete on Superstar. In addition to her solo performances on television, she also gained experience as a backing vocalist on national television.
Marta has always combined her performing career with teaching. She has taught Music Education to primary school students aged 6 to 14 and worked with younger children in daycares, including a Japanese international daycare in Prague and facilities in the United States. While living in Louisiana, she joined a large gospel choir, immersing herself in the vibrant traditions of Southern gospel and jazz. Later, in Cincinnati, Ohio, her private vocal lessons at the Cincinnati School of Music became so highly sought after that new students were often placed on a waiting list.
Approach
As an experienced voice coach, Marta tailors her approach to each student's unique abilities and goals. She has taught students ranging from ages 2 to 78, addressing the needs of beginners as well as professionals preparing for musical theatre productions and studio recordings. Her evidence-based teaching methods foster both technical excellence and a positive, encouraging studio environment.
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Vocal Pedagogy, Marta is committed to continuous professional development, regularly integrating new techniques and concepts into her practice. She has a profound interest in breath and bodywork and their impact on vocal performance. While living in the United States, Marta also trained as a doula, successfully incorporating breath and vocal techniques to support clients during pregnancy and childbirth.
Marta is now excited to bring her wealth of experience and passion for vocal music to Singapore. She looks forward to inspiring and nurturing the next generation of singers through her dynamic and holistic approach to vocal coaching.
