Comprising professional vocal performers and coaches from all around the world, The Vocal Studio specialises in personalised vocal coaching to help our students Find Their Inner Voice.
We have been around since October 2009, conveniently just off Orchard Road. Our coaches are active performers of the local & international music scene. We are constantly evolving our curriculum with the latest knowledge.

About
Hanna has over 15 years of teaching experience and specializes in musical as well as pop and Korean music. She is a professional music therapist with Master’s Degree in Music Therapy and B.A. in psychology and Education. With thorough understanding in physical, cognitive, social and emotional aspects of music and voice, she has built holistic and effective vocal training approach as well as therapeutic use of music.
Experience
Since young, Hanna has been in Show Choir as a performer and piano accompanist, conductor for over 12 years in Korea and U.S. As a vocal coach, Hanna has taught individual students, directed theater musical for young students and adults. Hanna’s clinical and research experience as a music therapist expands from education, counselling, and medical areas in Korea, U.A.E, and Singapore.
Approach
Hanna is the founder/ trainer of Holistic Vocal Coaching. She holds a deep knowledge and intuition on singers’ voice in aspects of anatomy, physiology, psychology, and music itself. She guides students to navigate various styles and discover their own way of singing in creative ways. Her purpose as a vocal coach and music therapist is in helping people connect with their inner self and let it shine through music and singing.
Hydir Idris

About
Hydir Idris has 7 years of teaching experience ranging from pre-school, primary, secondary and personalised coaching one to one level. He is an original Singaporean singer-songwriter, certified Holistic Vocal Coach and Arts Educator.
Hydir completed both secular and non-secular education and holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in PopVocals, Music Production and Music Business with 15 years of industrial experience and proven track record of releasing songs commercially with recognised independent record labels from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Experience
During his time at LASALLE College of the Arts, Hydir transitioned from the Traditional group singing of ‘Dikir Barat’ to PopVocals as main study, coached by Singapore Idol Vocal Coach, Babes Conde. Hydir was also mentored in music production and music business by Emmy Award Nominee, American music composer and producer, Dr. Joseph Curiale.
Ever since Hydir’s professional solo career kickstarted at the age of 17 through reality TV singing competitions such as Anugerah 2009 and The Final 1 SG, Hydir has had first-hand experience working with prominent producers, composers of the entertainment scene from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, performed for numerous public and corporate shows at the Esplanade Theatres and Mediacorp Suria.
Approach
Hydir believes that singing is a journey which involves imagination, creativity, intuition and dedication. He draws his inspiration for vocal training through the principles and systems of Speech-Level-Singing, paired with the Holistic Vocal Coaching perspective. Accompanied by an expressive singing voice, Hydir’s purpose as a vocal coach is to empower his students through fundamental training, song interpretation and performance.
Harsha Channa

Harsha teaches:

About
Harsha is a highly intuitive singer and vocal coach with a background in Hindustani classical music, pop-vocal technique training and vast performance experience with live bands for both live and television audiences. As a native Hindi speaker, she picked up conversational Tamil and made it into the TOP 11 of Singapore’s Vasantham Star 2023.
Experience
A theatre student with a Hindustani Classical background, she combines this experience with Western vocal techniques to train individuals on the basis of their anatomy and needs, allowing students to realise their voices to their fullest potential.
Approach
Harsha has first-hand experience of any turbulences a singer may face on and off-stage, and helps students tackle their limitations in order to effortlessly free their inner voices.
Language and genre are no barriers for her holistic approaches to reach effortless singing. Past students have opted to learn songs in Bahasa Indonesia, Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese and Punjabi.
Fathin Amira

About
Not one to be resting on her laurels, Fathin Amira, a songwriter, multilingual singer, recording artiste and aspiring superstar, has been constantly driven to pit herself against the best since her first debut public performance at age 5. Throughout her elementary and high school years, she was trained under her school’s choir group. Graduating from School of Music & The Arts (SOMA SG) Diploma in Songwriting & Music Production, she learnt another skill of song composition and studio work. Fathin’s music style is heavily influenced by Pop R&B and Soul music. She also has released 3 Pop Originals (Sebenarnya, Mungkin Ini Cinta & Sujud) over the past few years.
Experience
Fathin has competed in several competitions – Singapore Idol S3, The Final 1 SG, Asia’s Got Talent S1, I Love OPM (ABS-CBN) and performed for numerous corporate events. She is also a wedding vocalist for Orkes Budi for 10 years, along side with her father Mr Zubir, the music director of the band. Through the years of performing, she was influenced by Traditional Pop Asli, Keroncong music and other genres as well (Pop Jazz, Ballad, Funk, Swing, Bossa). Her biggest achievement was the remake of the National Anthem “Majulah Singapura” in the year 2020.
Approach
As a coach, she strives to bring the best out of her students, and polish their singing abilities. She also emphasizes on the emotional aspect of vocal singing, to create different interpretations. Singing is an antidote for her, and she hopes to heal people through singing.
Rowena See

Rowena is a musical theatre performer and vocal coach with a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre from LASALLE College of the Arts. Specializing in pop and musical theatre, her artistry has been shaped by icons such as Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Lea Salonga, Jessie Mueller, and more. With her strong musical theatre background, Rowena emphasizes the importance of artistry and storytelling, using the voice as a powerful medium for expression.
Experience
Rowena has performed in a variety of plays and musicals, including Three Years in the Life and Death of Land by The Necessary Stage (directed by Haresh Sharma), Adventures with Andi by Howdrama, and Superhawker Me by The Chewy Collective. Rowena is also part of a A Mouthful Productions, a theatre collective dedicated to storytelling through food and music. The group’s cabaret, Where’s The Rice?, was featured in the 2022 Musical Theatre Fringe Festival organized by SingTheatre.
Approach
Her deep interest in singing and vocal pedagogy has led Rowena to become a vocal coach. She believes that everyone has the potential to sing, regardless of their starting point, and her mission is to help her students discover and embrace their unique voices. Rowena places a strong emphasis on vocal health, and she strives to foster sustainable singing habits that allow her students to explore a wide range of vocal possibilities while maintaining safety and comfort. By blending technique with storytelling, Rowena empowers her students to connect emotionally with their performances, unlocking their full vocal potential and enabling them to sing with freedom, authenticity, and joy.
Marta Uras

Marta Michalska-Uras is a distinguished vocalist and dedicated vocal music educator who adopts a holistic approach to her teaching, addressing the body, mind, and spirit of her students. With an evidence-based methodology, she consistently achieves exceptional results across all levels of voice training and age groups.
A true global citizen, Marta is of Polish heritage, married to a Turkish husband, and together they are raising three American sons. Fluent in multiple languages, Marta is adept at working with a diverse repertoire, enriching the musical experiences of both herself and her students.
Experience
Marta's musical journey began at the age of six, participating in recitals, concerts, competitions, and festivals at the local, national, and international levels. Her passion for teaching led her to earn a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the prestigious Charles University in Prague. During her studies, she received comprehensive training in teaching methodologies, classical solo singing, and choral performance. Simultaneously, she performed in renowned Prague jazz clubs and was a soloist in a gospel choir that regularly performed on prominent stages.
In her early career, Marta participated in the inaugural season of The Voice in Poland and subsequently recorded an album. Upon relocating to Prague, she was invited to compete on Superstar. In addition to her solo performances on television, she also gained experience as a backing vocalist on national television.
Marta has always combined her performing career with teaching. She has taught Music Education to primary school students aged 6 to 14 and worked with younger children in daycares, including a Japanese international daycare in Prague and facilities in the United States. While living in Louisiana, she joined a large gospel choir, immersing herself in the vibrant traditions of Southern gospel and jazz. Later, in Cincinnati, Ohio, her private vocal lessons at the Cincinnati School of Music became so highly sought after that new students were often placed on a waiting list.
Approach
As an experienced voice coach, Marta tailors her approach to each student's unique abilities and goals. She has taught students ranging from ages 2 to 78, addressing the needs of beginners as well as professionals preparing for musical theatre productions and studio recordings. Her evidence-based teaching methods foster both technical excellence and a positive, encouraging studio environment.
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Vocal Pedagogy, Marta is committed to continuous professional development, regularly integrating new techniques and concepts into her practice. She has a profound interest in breath and bodywork and their impact on vocal performance. While living in the United States, Marta also trained as a doula, successfully incorporating breath and vocal techniques to support clients during pregnancy and childbirth.
Marta is now excited to bring her wealth of experience and passion for vocal music to Singapore. She looks forward to inspiring and nurturing the next generation of singers through her dynamic and holistic approach to vocal coaching.
Val Chong

About
Val Chong is a Singaporean soprano known for her versatile and expressive voice. Her formal education includes School of the Arts, Singapore (SOTA) and Bachelors of Music in majoring in voice performance in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore (YSTCM) and an exchange semester at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Building on her passion for classical music, she also trained in musical theatre and pop.
Experience
Val was the founder of an acoustic trio and became president of Syncopella, an acapella group in SOTA. In 2019, she participated in her first pop competition in which she won first prize in the solo voice category of B Dazzled music and dance festival with a near perfect score, then became a top 5 grand finalist among 200 over participants. She also emerged Champion of the Ignite, Integrate and Shape singing competition supported by MCCY. She was in the choir ensemble of Josh Groban's Bridges tour in Singapore 2019 and sang alongside mediacorp artistes (Bonnie Loo, Desmond Ng, JJ Neo and James Seah) in River Hongbao 2024. She also organised her debut solo concert in Tembusu College titled "Enchanting Disney Magic" concert with over 150 audience members.

As a vocal coach, Val believes in creating a supportive and interactive environment where each student can thrive. She values a holistic approach to learning, exploring various musical genres, body awareness, diction, vocal technique, performance skills, etc. She strives to create an empowering atmosphere where students feel motivated to explore their unique voices and reach their full potential.
SRI ALYSSA
Junior Vocal Coach @ TVS CENTRAL
Alyssa teaches

About
Alyssa is a singer-songwriter who holds a Diploma in Popular Music Performance from LASALLE College of the Arts. She has composed, arranged, and produced her own songs since the age of 12, and has an extensive performing experience in Singapore, both as a soloist and alongside her musician parents. Alyssa specialises in teaching Pop, Ballad, R&B, Soul, and Alternative/Pop Rock.
Experience
Alyssa has performed for various functions and events for organisations like Yayasan Mendaki, Cashew Zone, Passion Arts, and Jamiyah’s Children Home, as well as several other public events and weddings. She has also performed at Singapore’s National Museum for “Remembering LEE KUAN YEW” for the commemoration of Singapore’s founding father’s one year of passing.
Approach
With her experience in performing, Alyssa hopes to provide her students with a fun and safe space to discover their own unique voice tone and style, and the freedom to channel and express their emotions vocally.
Phyllis Soh

Phyllis is a diploma graduate from Lasalle College of the Arts specializing in Pop Vocals. Her musical journey began as a student at The Vocal Studio in 2019, where she us under the tutelage of Coach Hann. Returning as a new Coach, She is eager as ever to grow as a musician and an instructor.
Experience
Being a strong believer in the positive impact of music, Phyllis has performed for the elderly at HCA Hospice care as well as charities such as Ambulance Wish Singapore.
Approach
Phyllis believes that it is important to embrace one’s unique voice as it opens up a journey of self exploration and self expression. Her aim is to establish a nurturing environment where her students can delve into all facets of singing - including the mental, anatomical, and emotional aspects - in order to discover what suits each individual best.
