About
From humble beginnings, Hydir Idris is an independent Singaporean singer-songwriter and producer whose talent was first recognised through national TV competitions like Anugerah 2009 and The Final 1 as young as 17 years old.
He completed both secular and non-secular education and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music from LASALLE College of the Arts, specialising in Contemporary/PopVocal Performance coached by Singapore Idol Vocal Coach Babes Conde and mentored by acclaimed Emmy-nominated music composer-producer-educator, Dr. Joseph Curiale in Production and Music Business.
With over a decade of independent experience, Hydir has a track record of collaborating with renowned regional composers, producers and released his music through notable labels across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Experience
Hydir is a warm and patient vocal coach who helps students find their voice both technically and emotionally. He has worked with singers from ages 7 to 64, and taught music & movement, speech & drama, and digital media in MOE schools. He also guided young singers on Mediacorp Suria’s Kelab Juara Mic Junior.
As a performer, Hydir has sung on major stages like the Esplanade, the Malay Heritage Centre and on national TV shows by Mediacorp Suria. Over the years, he’s also been a familiar voice at many grassroots community events. But what he enjoys most throughout his 5 years of coaching at TVS is seeing his students grow from shy beginners to confident performers through TVS’s Small Circle and Performance Day events.
Approach
Hydir believes singing is a deeply personal journey, one that connects us to our emotions. He takes time to understand each student’s background and builds their progress through a balance of intuition and structure.
His coaching system focuses on healthy vocal habits, beginning with the speech voice. Through personalised exercises and semi-occluded vocal tract routines, he helps students reduce vocal strain, develop vocal resistance and coordination, flexibility, mix voice and vocal range —while always keeping space for artistic expression and emotional connection.
Hydir’s goal is to help every student sing with freedom and trust in their own voice.
