Tips for Brides to Sing for Wedding

As beautiful and romantic as it sounds..

It ain’t that easy.

Whether the bride sings walking down the aisle or singing during the wedding vow, Walking holding the dress, holding mic, staring at the groom, and following the musical cue all at the same time is just not so easy.

And if you plan without much consideration on the details, it can turn out as a quite awkward. Yes, it will be still memorable - just not so romantic and beautiful. But with just a little better planning you can make your singing to be the most wonderful decision for the entire wedding.

Here are some more tips for preparing a perfect wedding serenade!

1. Don’t choose a super challenging song.

On the wedding day of course you’ll feel very anxious, your nerves will take over and the emotion is going to affect your singing a lot. So if you choose a very difficult one for your vocal range and skills, you might not be able to perform that well.

2. Choose a meaningful song for both you and your husband.

If you have a song that you two enjoy listening together, this can perhaps be a good choice too. Or you can change the original lyrics to make it more suitable for the wedding and talk about the experiences you had together.

3. Ask help from your friends

Singing with your friends at the wedding will also make it a memorable moment, and even make your friendship more meaningful.

Your friend will also feel honored and special for being able to be part of your special day!

Your bridesmaids can join the singing too! I had a student who joined the singing classes with her bridesmaids, and they had such fun time singing together and practicing harmony.

4. Train your voice and singing

Unless you are a professional singer with a lot of stage experience, you have to know that the skills don’t come at once. Allowing yourself to start your singing preparation on time and before you start doing the preparation for your wedding is the right thing to do. Your wedding the schedule might be very tight once you start it off. So, if you want to sing – start practicing and planning at least 3 months before the wedding. There are more things to consider and arrange before you can really ‘sing’ with the full capacity. It takes time for your body, mind and voice to connect and memorize all that you learned in lesson.

During the singing lesson, the coaches can help you

  • Find the best key for your voice and song

  • Suggest a good song for you to sing

  • Support and project your singing voice

  • Learn how to use the mic and advise on what to prepare in advance (backing track, live band)

  • Audio and Video recording of your singing (if you want to use it for the ceremony etc.)

5. And a great dilemma will also have to be solved

Will you be singing on top of a backing track, will you be singing with a live band, singing a capella or with your friends, for how long should you sing, when is the best moment of the ceremony for you to sing etc.
